Pottery Shed, South London
With Adjaye Associates
An independent potter in South London was looking for a cost effective solution to her acute lack of studio space. Located at the bottom of her garden the building provides a new workspace away from the bustle of domestic life. The room is flooded with light from the fully glazed ends which frame views into the surrounding greenery.
The building was made as cheap as possible by using railway sleeper foundations, a simple timber frame and a cheap agricultural cladding material.
