The site sits on a south facing slope with panoramic views across the city of Bath. The brief was for a new house to replace the existing bungalow. To achieve the floor area required the house is dug into the slope with a semi basement that provides a large living, dining and kitchen space. Large sliding doors provide expansive views out to that garden and the city beyond. A mechanical parking system at the front of the plot saves valuable space.
The building is respectful to the street with heights, roof forms and materials that match the existing context. To the garden the house adopts a more contemporary expression.
